In mythology it is believed that Herakles invented the game to honor Zeus, who defeated Cronus. Zeus was known as the most important god. In the Ancient Olympics Zeus was the main god. The Olympics were linked with festivals of Zeus.Greece wanted to chow the abilities and qualities younger people had. The wanted to encourage good relationships with other countries. Greece and its people treated the games with such importance because of their religion.

Ancient Greek Art
The ancient Greeks had a very unique style of art. Their art express their tales of epic heroes, great dinners, and Gods/Goddess. They in influenced many artist. So many of their art was lost over time but some pieces still remain. Most of their art consist of a wide variety. The ancient Greeks were very skilled and patient with their work.
Classic Greek Dishes
Greece is known for many of its famous, classic dishes. These meals have been around for over a dozen centuries. To start, the traditional baklava. It is more of a dessert and has layers of dough, honey, nuts, and cinnamon. Baklava is one of the most well known recipes of the Greeks. Next, phyllo cheese triangles, also known as tiropites. Phyllo cheese triangles consist of dough ( in the shape of a triangle) filled with cheese and topped with honey and sesame seeds. They are eaten for a late breakfast or sometimes used appetizers. Moussaka is a delicious dish made with layers of eggplants, ground beef, tomatoes, onions, and other spices. It is usually covered in a cheese sauce. Since ancient times the Greeks have been eating and enjoying these meals at festivals, family gatherings, and just at home.
